If you happen to be a teenager or even adult who suffers from acne, you are likely looking for an acne treatment that works for you. This article includes easy ways for you to effectively treat your acne.

1. You have to leave your face alone- stop picking at your spots. When you aggravate the spots on your face, it increases the amount of sebum your body produces. This will rupture the membranes below your skin; then the infection and sebum that causes acne will spread under your skin, resulting in more spots. It will also increase the likelihood that your skin will become scarred.

2. Be sure to wash your face twice each day. It is very important that you wash your face twice a day. Use a mild cleanser that is sulfur based and is designed for acne prone skin. If your skin is too oily, use a cleanser that contains benzoyl peroxide. Do not use rough sponges or anything else abrasive to wash your face. Do not over-wash your skin because it will actually cause the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum and increase your amount of acne.

3. Take into account what you are eating. Many times acne is caused by a food allergy. Studies have shown that acne is caused by milk (which contains hormones), and also seafood (which contains high levels of iodine). Wherever possible cut back on these foods. Try increasing your vegetable juices, green vegetables, and foods that are rich in zinc- these can help cut down on the problems associated with acne.

4. Drink plenty of water. If you can drink at least 8 glasses of water each day as it can help to carry waste material out of the body and it really does help to heal and prevent acne flare ups.

5. Do not wear makeup. If you do not need to wear make up then don’t as they can clog your pores and this will cause more blackheads and spots. But if you do need to wear make up then make sure it is a water based product (rather than oil based). Also cleanse your skin before you go to sleep each night and ensure that you clean your make up brushes regularly.

6. Try not to use oil products. Many products containing oil will aggravate your acne, such as hair pomades, oil based moisturizers, and oil-based cleansers.

7. Keep your skin clean. Avoid transferring germs and dirt and oils to your face- do not rest your chin on your hands, touch your face, etc. Keep your hair clean and keep it tied back away from your face, particularly when you sleep.

Hopefully the points provided above will provide you with some ideas regarding acne treatment and how to deal with acne should you suffer from it at any point in your life.
