Mountain cabin plans are designed to be built into the side of a hill, or a sloped terrain of some degree. Mountain house plans are also called hillside floor plans, or sloped lot floor plans. But no matter what you call them, they all have a couple of things in common.

Three sides of the basement, or lower level, is built underground, into a hillside. The rest of the basement is built out in the open with the remainder of the house. Most hillside floor plans have this walk out basement design.

Many mountain cabin home plans are designed with large open spaces to enhance the outside view of the mountains. Depending on what you are looking for, you can choose to have the cabin plans to not be underground at all.

It is best to have property site chosen first. Before choosing the perfect cabin floor plans, decide if you want a simple cabin in the mountains, or a little more complex, and have it partly built into the side of a hill.

The more power and utility services that you will have to provide for yourself, the more costly it can become. How many public utilities are available to your future cabin home? Which ones, and are they easily accessible?

In your search for the perfect mountain cabin plans, decide if you want your home partially in a hillside, or not. If so, search for hillside floor plans, or mountain floor plans. If not, search for cabin floor plans.

It is well worth the cost of gas, and the longer drive, to be up in the mountains with nature. I can not think of a better way to spend time, than relaxing away from society, in my specially built mountain cabin.
